Telkomsat Collaborates with Tel-U to follow up the Utilization of New Satellite Research

Bandung - As a plan to develop satellite technology in Indonesia, especially related to the constellation satellite and satellite business for Telkom Group subscribers, Telkomsat visited Telkom University in order to discuss plans to use research and development of a constellation of communication satellites in low orbit. The visit and discussion was conducted at Telkom University Rector Office, Jl. Terusan Buah Batu, Sukapura, Kec. Dayeuhkolot, Bandung City, on Friday (11/12).

This meeting was attended by the CEO of PT. Telkomsat, Endi Fitri Herlianto who was accompanied by VP Strategic Business Development, Philipus Nanang H; VP Product Development & Project Management, Sugeng Sugiarto and AVP Product Development, Ricky Kusnandar. Also present were the Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya; Vice Rector 4, Dr. Rina Pudji Astuti and team.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya revealed that his party welcomed the collaboration between Telkomsat and Telkom University, and hopefully this collaboration can provide great benefits for the Indonesian nation.

"Hopefully the collaboration between Telkomsat and Telkom University will be facilitated, with good intentions we will do our best for the Indonesian nation." Prof. said. Dr. Adiwijaya.

The same thing was expressed by the CEO of Telkomsat, Endi Fitri Herlianto. According to him, to build an ecosystem for Indonesia's satellite industry, Telkomsat needs to collaborate with industry and academics. It is hoped that through this collaboration, new ideas and innovations will emerge that can benefit the development of telecommunications in Indonesia. For example, the emergence of innovations that utilize the micro satellite Automatic Identification System (AIS), IoT, etc.

AIS is a device that functions to meet the needs of vessel tracking so that ships can be monitored and coordinated from the office on land as well as for communication with the crew. In addition, this AIS is used as a form of supervision and assurance of shipping safety in all Indonesian jurisdictions by the Ministry of Transportation.

The involvement of Telkomsat and Telkom University will be specifically oriented towards satellite telecommunication services which refers to various aspects of human life. This collaboration will also open various opportunities for collaboration with other industries or startups engaged in satellite technology so that later collaboration will occur.

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the Indonesian people can create satellites of the work of the nation's children that can be proud of in the eyes of the world, encourage the development of Indonesia's digital society and strengthen the role of Telkomsat as an enabler in the progress of the national digital economy.
