Telkomsat Holds Maritime Workshop

Jakarta, June 5, 2023 - Held at a venue in North Jakarta, Telkomsat organized a Maritime Workshop with the theme "Serve the Nation by Providing Digital Connectivity & Solution for The Maritime Ecosystem." The workshop was attended by all Telkomsat Commercial Directorate employees, the Board of Directors, and Senior Leaders of Telkomsat, as well as several prominent speakers in the maritime field.

The background for organizing this workshop is Telkomsat's serious approach to the development of the maritime telecommunications industry, projected by experts to continue to increase up to 2.3 Gbps by 2027 (CAGR 36%) with an opportunity value of USD 165 million in the next 5 years. This shows the importance of satellite connectivity and improved services in the maritime ecosystem.

Furthermore, the workshop also aims to accelerate Telkomsat's plan to expand its market to the maritime ecosystem for the optimization of current capacity (GEO & LEO Orbital) and to open up future satellite market opportunities for Telkomsat. This is also in line with Telkomsat's efforts to expand satellite connectivity market coverage, especially in the maritime sector.

The event began with a report from the executive chairperson of the event by SEAM 1 of Telkomsat - Tjatur Prasetyo and continued with remarks from the CEO of Telkomsat - Lukman Hakim Abd. Rauf. In his remarks, Lukman stated, "The existence of Telkomsat is expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as the World's Maritime Axis and support the national development mission to 'Realize Indonesia as an Independent, Advanced, Strong Maritime Country based on National Interests', by providing connectivity and digital solutions for the Indonesian maritime ecosystem.”

He also stated that Telkomsat is also ambitious to provide benefits for the development of the Maritime Economy through the application of technology and digital solutions. This is expected to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, as well as improve governance and cyber security.

At the end of his speech, he hoped that Telkomsat could provide digital technology solutions to customers in the Maritime Ecosystem with the implementation of IoT and Automation. This technology has been widely implemented to increase operational efficiency.

The event was filled with speakers sharing their knowledge and experience in various fields. Among them were Yahya Kuncoro - Director of Passenger Transport Business PT PELNI, Hendra Setiawan - VP ICT ASDP, DR. Koes Pranowo - Directorate of Trans Ocean & IMSA Administrator and Kasubdit Ditlala (Directorate of Traffic and Sea Transportation Ministry of Transportation).
