Telkomsat Holds Kick Off De-Orbit Satellite Telkom-2

Cibinong, Bogor – During the service period of the Telkom-2 Satellite, Telkomsat held a Kick Off De-Orbit for the Telkom-2 Satellite. The event was held at the Satellite Master Control Station and attended by all BoD and Senior Leaders Telkomsat on May 31, 2021.

This series of events began with remarks by the CEO of Telkomsat, Endi Fitri Herlianto, in his remarks he advised that the De-Orbit process be monitored to the maximum so that it could run smoothly without any significant obstacles.

After listening to the remarks from the CEO of Telkomsat, the event continued with the presentation of material from the CTO of Telkomsat, Anggoro Kurnianto Widiawan. In his report, he has prepared well the ground segment, so that he can control the direction of the satellite properly. In addition, he said that all traffic on the Telkom-2 Satellite has been successfully migrated to other Telkom Satellites. Closing his report, Anggoro said that currently Telkomsat experts were ready to carry out an effective De-Orbit at 22.15 WIB.

The implementation of the De-Orbit will take place within the next 15 to 24 days from May 31, 2021. During the De-Orbit process, the Telkom-2 Satellite has sufficient fuel so that it can leave its orbital slot and fly up to an altitude of 263.6 kilometers.

During De-Orbit, the Telkom-2 Satellite is controlled using 3 antennas belonging to Telkomsat, while the antenna uses a 9 meter LMA (Limited Motion Antenna) and 11 meter LMA antenna, both antennas are located in Cibinong. In addition, an antenna from the Backup Station located in Banjarmasin was also deployed, which uses an antenna measuring 9 meters LMA.

The presence of the Telkom-2 Satellite has contributed to connecting telecommunications in Indonesia, as well as strengthening the capabilities of the Telkom Group in providing connectivity services for customers, to areas not covered by fiber optics.
