Telkomsat launched Patrakom USAT services for the Maritime Industry
Telkomsat, the leading Indonesian service provider of maritime satellite and VSAT communications, today announced that it has entered a collaboration with THISS Technologies Pte Ltd of Singapore to launch a new broadband satellite communications service for maritime customers in the South East Asian region.
The new service dubbed Patrakom USAT was officially launched today at an event hosted at the Nongsa Point Marina in Batam, Kepulauan Riau. Initially employing two different regional Ku-band satellites, the service will start with coverage over the waters encompassing Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and across the strategically important South China Sea region. In particular, the service is targeted towards smaller, regional and coastal vessels.
The service will play a critical rule in the modernization of industries such as fisheries, for efficient vessel management, and for improving the quality of life and well-being of millions of sea-farers.
