TelkomGroup CTO Commends Telkomsat’s Progress

22 September 2025

Bogor – TelkomGroup’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Nanang Hendarno, during his working visit to the Telkomsat satellite transmission headquarters, expressed his appreciation for Telkomsat’s current progress. The CTO delivered this appreciation while giving direction at a sharing session forum with Telkomsat’s senior leaders and management on Friday (19/9).

This sharing session served as an open discussion space regarding satellite business developments, industry challenges, and collaborative synergies that can continue to be strengthened with TelkomGroup.

“I appreciate the Telkomsat Board of Directors and Senior Leaders who in the past came from technical backgrounds, but now they are speaking in business terms. That is an extraordinary advancement. This growth mindset is important because every challenge we face will strengthen our competencies,” said Nanang.

“Let’s not waste too much energy debating amongst ourselves internally; instead, we must work hand in hand so that we can stand strong externally in the real business competition,” Nanang emphasized.

Nanang also hopes Telkomsat can regain market dominance amid intense competition from foreign players already operating in Indonesia. He believes that Telkomsat’s satellite business development plans—such as adopting low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology, optimizing the capacity of the Merah Putih 2 Satellite, and expanding satellite service markets in the maritime and consumer sectors—can be key strategies to reclaim the Indonesian market.

Telkomsat President Director Lukman Hakim Abd Rauf appreciated the visit of the TelkomGroup CTO to discuss the future role and business roadmap of Telkomsat. “We hope that the synergy built will further strengthen Telkomsat’s steps in delivering reliable satellite solutions to support the national digital ecosystem,” he said.

The working visit, aimed at supporting the development of the satellite business and ensuring Telkomsat’s contribution to the national connectivity strategy, was also attended by PT Telkom Infrastruktur Indonesia’s Director of Planning & Operations Suharyoto, EGM Digital Connectivity Service Teuku Muda Nanta, and Telkomsat Senior Leaders.

The visit began with a Briskwalk, a fast-paced walk participated in by all attendees, covering a five-kilometer route around the lush Telkomsat Bogor office area. All participants appeared enthusiastic and energetic.

Next, the CTO and his delegation directly inspected the Satellite Museum/Diorama, which showcases the company’s history and the history of satellites managed by Telkomsat; the Telkomsat eXperience Center (TXC), which serves as a product/service showcase; the Service Solution Care Center (SSCC), a 24/7 monitoring room for Telkomsat services; as well as the antenna farm, which serves as the backbone of Telkomsat’s satellite operations.

Concluding his visit, the CTO reaffirmed TelkomGroup’s commitment to advancing the satellite business: “Face every challenge positively, and make sure we learn from it,” he said.
